WE’RE HERE TO SUPPORT YOU!

By Juan Ramirez

Latino Farmers and Ranchers International, LFRI, is and has always been focused on supporting underserved farmers and ranchers who have been historically discriminated against. Hence, its slogan: To Protect, Preserve and Serve.

Latino Farmers and Ranchers International Inc. conducts agricultural activities in rural US communities (and beyond). One hundred percent of LFRI’s time is dedicated to the mission of protecting, preserving and serving its constituents. Funding for the organization comes from grants, donations, fund raising activities and partnerships with 100% of funds being reinvested into the organization’s mission. LFRI’s mission and activities allow us to provide resources and opportunities for its constituents to have direct access to identified resources and opportunities both public and private that they have previously been denied. This allows LFRI’s constituents to be self-sufficient and further develop and assist their communities. LFRI initiates local involvement and is the bridge to domestic, national and international markets for the opportunity that will assure success and sustainability especially within the most recent and current climate crisis events worldwide. In some areas, we have been the only source of support to small and developing farmers and to the impoverished communities where many reside.

Flower Hill Institute and Latino farmers and Ranchers International are developing the outreach and providing technical assistance for the Emergency Relief Program – Phase 2, in New Mexico, California and Colorado.

The main goal is to help farmers and ranchers which have suffered any loss due to natural disasters during the calendar years 2020 and 2021. As an organization who represents Latino farmers and ranchers, its multidisciplinary approach offers a professional team able to provide the requested assistance.

Our next Emergency Relief Program Event will be held on June 23, 2023, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, at Taos Economic Development Center, located at 1021 Salazar Rd, Taos, NM 87571. This event is open to the public and it’s co-hosted and sponsored by Taos County Economic Development Center.

Taos County Economic Development Corporation (TCEDC) is a Community-based Economic Development providing educational opportunities, assets and tools for the community that supports and protects the environment of this unique valley. People of all colors and backgrounds join together through TCEDC projects and programs in a united effort to focus on implementing strategies to strengthen families and a way of life that puts people first.

TCEDC’s mission is to support the food, land, water and cultures of the people of Northern New Mexico. Taos County Economic Development Corporation (TCEDC) has focused on maintaining equity and ownership for land-based people, combating poverty, as well as providing access to education, businesses, and other sector opportunities. TCEDC’s efforts are to support sustainable livelihoods in agricultural and food-related enterprises. TCEDC provides successful strategies for limited resource food producers, particularly women and people of color.

LFRI is here to help and support you, and we will do anything we can in order to provide farmers and ranchers the help and resources they need.

“I consider farmworkers, farmers and ranchers as the most selfless and caring people I have ever met. It has been my greatest honor to have grown up with this community and to now be in a position to gather all of you and thank you for maintaining and nurturing our lifeline to humanity; growing food from seed to harvest keeps us all alive.” Rudy Arredondo.
